RAILWAY

The silent revolution of the transports. The railway experienced a great leap forward, from the not so far away steam express to the high speed trains crossing all over Europe. The traction systems, the safety on the signaling, the passenger comfortability, all this have evolved enormously.

In this section I’ll cover two main topics: safety on exploitation and traction. The first includes not only signaling but circulation protecting systemas and driving issues, the second includes electrical and electronic breakthroughs on locomotives and high speed trains.

The TVM (Transmission Voie-Machine) is the protection system implemented in the French railway high-speed lines. This system presents in the driver cab the maximun speeds indications and speed restriction orders in every moment.

The TVM is the answer to the problem that occurs when driving at speeds above 220 km/h. This speed is the maximum considered that the indications and orders are displayed to the driver via semaphore signals, light signals or markers located on the track side.
